Internet Explorer 8.0 is being released through Windows Update from next week (3rd week of April 2009).
We have been testing (and continue testing) eLink 2009 running on IE8. So far there are no major issues, elink is running fine except for two things:
1. There are some ugly lines which show up here and there in the eLink GUI, though these do not show if you run IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode.
2. The locked popup window in ActiveX issue re-appears. i.e. If in an ActiveX you have a second window on top of the first one, then you have to minimise the main wiindow in order to be able to access the second one. This is very rare in eLink but it is pretty annoying in eConfig. So far there is no solution (this is fixed for IE7 but Microsoft won’t let us use this fix for IE8).
At present, we do not recommend that eLink users upgrade to using Internet Explorer 8.0.
