The payment screen of the eLink Lite account management system allows users to choose the date of their regular subscription payments, review their payments and to place subscriptions through Paypal.
When altering your eLink Lite system configuration, there will necessarily be a change in payment, unless the change is like-for-like. In any case, changes will not occur until an appropriate subscription has be setup through paypal to ensure that each months payment is made on time. Note that it is not possible to initiate the payment process until the system configuration has been updated, creating the appropriate purchase order.
When making a change to a subscription, it is necessary to cancel the previous subscription, and then create the new subscription. In cancelling a subscription, it is likely that there may be some unused funds remaining on that subscription. These are carried forward to the new subscription.
Payments are arranged in two parts:
1. An initial payment, covering the first few days up to the next subscription date
2. Regular subscription payments at the specified subscription date.
If you choose today as your subscription date, there will be no initial payment.
However, you should bear in mind that the system will seek to carry forward the balance from your previous subscription.
| For example, if you previous subscription was for £180, and there was ten days left in the month (assumed to be 30 days long), Then we have £60 to carry forward. If £60 is sufficient to cover whole days at the new subscription rate, then that is what is done. |
Any remainder is deduced from the initial payment.
| For example, if today was the 1st of Feb, and we had sufficient funds from the previous subscription for 5 days (at the new rate), with £10 left over, then we would seek the next subscription date to be after 5th Feb. Setting the subscription date to the 1st, would actually make the next subscription payment due on the 1st of March, and the initial payment would comprise most of the month’s bill less the first five days and the £10 carried forward. Setting the subscription date to the 6th, would cause it to happen on the 6th Feb, with the 1st to the 5th covered out of the previous subscription. There would be a small initial payment for the 6th itself, less the £10 carried forward. Setting the payment date to the 5th, would cause subscription to being on the 5th Feb, but the £10 would be lost. |
There is one other situation to be avoided. Changing the system from a high-value subscription to a low subscription would create a large carry forward. Currently, elink Lite cannot accomodate a carry forward of more than 90 days. Anything beyond 90 days would cause a non-refundable loss.
